Home News: Feature Film Premiere
"Resentment" will screen publicly for the first time next month at the Lighthouse International Film Festival
Almost two years ago, I posted on here about having completed shooting my first feature film. One year later, I posted on here about having completed editing on that same film. After that, we went through the rest of post-production—color correction, sound editing, composing the score, etc.—and then, starting last fall, we began submitting to film festivals.
And then . . . we waited.
It’s been a long wait, but I’m thrilled to be able to finally announce that Resentment will premiere at the Lighthouse International Film Festival in Long Beach Island, NJ, on Friday, June 6th at 6:30pm at the Long Beach Island Foundation screening venue. More details on Lighthouse’s website—and also in this write-up in IndieWire:
I couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of screening for a festival audience. And Lighthouse is a really fun festival; everyone I know who has screened there has raved both about how the festival treats filmmakers and about the quality of the audience they get.
If you’re in the general vicinity of Long Beach Island, I hope you’ll consider coming down. There’s nothing like being in the first audience to see a film. If you can’t, I’m sure we’ll have a number of other screenings at other festivals, and after the festival run is over we’ll look to get it distributed, so eventually you’ll be able to screen it on line.

Substack is also a great way for me to keep people informed, of course. I didn’t want to inundate all of my subscribers with news about the film, nor do I want anyone interested in news about the film to have to wade through all my other posts to find that information.
So I’ve created a new section to this Substack, called Resentment Film News, which this post is coming from. Hopefully all of you received it without a hitch! Any time you want to see what’s new on the film, that’s one option for where to look: just go to Gideon’s Substack and click Resentment Film News in the top navigation bar.
If you really don’t want to hear more news about the film, you can go into your settings under your Substack profile and unsubscribe from this section. Just please don’t accidentally unsubscribe from Gideon’s Substack in its entirety! And if you only want to read news about the film, and nothing else I write here, I believe you can turn off notifications for the main section in the same manner—though I hope nobody does that!
Bottom line: I can’t wait for you all to see Resentment, whether at its premiere or thereafter.
Congratulations! Won't be able to make it to Long Island but hopefully there will be a West Coast premiere at some point too. And excited to hear that D'Angelo Barksdale is in the film!
