I don't see how you can doubt that "bottom up" pressure from the left is fundamentally un-democratic. Look up the anti-racism constitutional amemdment Kendi proposed. Look at YIMBY support for state laws overturning local control. And then there are all the cancelations for incorrect speech. The left has taken a very disturbing turn towards totalitarianism.
I often wonder if a movie like Tropic Thunder could be made today. Obviously, no. Robert Downy Jr. running around the entire movie in black face. Imagine the howls of protest today. (I happen to think Tropic Thunder was Ben Stiller’s best in his run of comedies)
