"Resentment" at the Manhattan Film Festival
My feature film will screen on June 15th at Cinema Village
This is a very brief note that is both a reminder and a bit of news.
Reminder: Resentment, my first feature film as writer/director, will have its world premiere next week at the Lighthouse International Film Festival on Long Beach Island, NJ, on Friday, June 6th at 6:30pm. Here’s how Lighthouse’s artistic director, Amir Bogen, described the film:
In an artist’s life, every workday ends with a reckoning—with purpose, hope, failure, frustration—add alcohol, and it curdles into resentment. This full palette of emotion—false hopes, grudges, victimhood—is poured out on and around a bar table in Noah Millman’s brilliant, sarcastic, and brutally honest film, echoing the spirit of Mike Nichols’ classic "Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf". A witty chamber dramedy, it follows a filmmaker (Patch Darragh, "Succession") confronting his artistic failures and painful compromises. As the night stretches on, a drunken blame game spirals out of control, entangling friends, lovers, and the artist himself in a sharp exchange of truths no one wants to hear. What begins as a casual conversation devolves into a war of words, fueled by ego, regret, and bottomless drinks. With Lawrence Gilliard Jr. ("The Wire") and Jen Ponton.
If you want to join me there, you can buy tickets to the screening here, and you can buy passes to the festival as a whole—which looks phenomenal—here. There’s also a write-up of the entire festival program of films and other events in Indiewire.
News: Resentment will also be screening at the Manhattan Film Festival at the Cinema Village theater in NYC on Sunday, June 15th at 7:00pm. You can buy tickets to that screening here. I’m excited that the film will screen so soon after its world premiere at a venue so close to my home and the homes of so many of my friends and family and those who worked on the film. I’m also really touched that it will screen at the same festival where my second short film, Public Speaking, premiered back in 2017.
As always, to keep up to date on screenings and other info, you can follow us on Instagram (@resentmentfilm) and Facebook (Resentment: a Film by Noah Millman) as well as on the film’s website (www.resentment-film.com), and I will periodically post news here as well.
Finally, here are a handful of stills from the film to whet your appetite:
I hope to see some of you at Lighthouse and/or MFF!
Sounds good. Hope I can make the Sunday showing.
